Lack of Proper Practice Space for Performing Groups

I've been a member of a couple performing groups on campus and it seems the only places that ANY performing group can get a booking slot is either Union Bi-level, the SAC 3rd Floor Gym, and maybe a room in the Rec Center. If they are not granted practice spaces on their requested days, groups would go to other places such as the Staller Center or maybe try their luck at Benedict Atrium, but are kicked out as soon as they get there, either by Stony Brook staff or Campus Police.  I understand there is a dance studio in the Sports Complex, but it is only for the Stony Brook Dance Team.  I would imagine they don't practice in there 24/7, so giving some time to other performing groups would help.  Having the Sports Complex dance studio open will not be enough though.

There are so many performing groups on campus and it doesn't seem like there is enough space to have all of them practice their art.  Having more practice spaces open is definitely in need.

If performing groups do not have areas to practice, then they will not be able to function as organizations on campus.
